When Elbow Pain Doesn't Improve

Most elbow problems improve with the right rehabilitation. However, if your symptoms persist or the diagnosis isn’t clear, further assessment may be helpful.

Our Physiotherapy + Ultrasound Assessment combines an expert physiotherapy assessment with point-of-care ultrasound for selected elbow conditions, helping assess structures such as the common extensor tendon, common flexor tendon, collateral ligaments, distal biceps tendon, triceps tendon and bursae where clinically appropriate.

For some elbow conditions, a corticosteroid injection may be recommended alongside rehabilitation to help reduce pain and improve your ability to exercise.

Injections are never a standalone treatment. Every patient receives a clinical assessment first to determine whether an injection is appropriate and whether physiotherapy remains the best option.

Common elbow conditions that may benefit include:

✓ Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)

✓ Golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis)

✓ Olecranon bursitis

✓ Elbow osteoarthritis

✓ Inflammatory flare-ups affecting the elbow joint or surrounding soft tissues
