I have been suffering neck and shoulder pain since March. In desperation I sought the advice of Light Joints Therapy in Bradford. Within two visits the pain has subsided and movement is so much easier. The service provided is excellent and I would have no hesitation in recommending this practice.Posted on Google![]()

Had treatment from Emily and Amie for serious back and knee pain for months while training in the gym with real day to day life impacts , didn’t know how was going to resolve. Lovely girl, easy to talk to she understood the issue immediately, extremely knowledgable, isolated the pain straight away , found the cause of the issues (there were a few!) and made immediate impact. Can’t thank her enough will continue to use, highly recommend 10/10🙌Posted on Google![]()

I sought out physio for lower back pain which was hurting on a daily basis. I had one session with Daniel Thompson and he diagnosed my issue and gave me excercises to do to resolve the root cause. Within two weeks my back pain had fully gone and I feel back to my normal self. Would recommend to anyone it was well worth it and Daniel is friendly and very knowledgable.Posted on Google![]()

Sports Massage Bradford: Frequently Asked Questions
Light Joints Physiotherapy offers sports massage at our Bradford clinic inside Jetts Fitness, 800 Harrogate Road, Apperley Bridge, BD10 0QS. You can book online or call 0113 873 0766.
No. Sports massage is suitable for people with a range of activity levels. You might be looking for help with muscular tension from gym training, running, physical work or spending long periods at a desk. Your therapist will discuss whether massage is appropriate for your needs.
Sports massage may help ease muscular tension, discomfort and feelings of stiffness. Treatment can focus on areas such as your back, shoulders, thighs or calves, depending on your symptoms and goals. Persistent or recurring pain may need a physiotherapy assessment to understand the cause.
Yes. Tell your therapist about your training, the areas you want to focus on and any upcoming events. Sports massage can form part of your approach to managing muscular discomfort, alongside appropriate training, recovery and rehabilitation where needed.
Sports massage may be appropriate if your main concern is muscular tightness or general tension. Physiotherapy is usually a better starting point if you have a recent injury, recurring pain, weakness or difficulty exercising. If you’re unsure, contact our team before booking.
Massage may be used as part of rehabilitation to help manage symptoms, but returning to sport usually also involves rebuilding strength and gradually increasing training demands. If an injury is stopping you from running, lifting or competing, a physiotherapy assessment can help establish an appropriate plan.
The techniques can overlap. Sports massage is tailored to your symptoms, activities and goals, while deep tissue massage describes an approach using firmer pressure. Your treatment does not need to involve deep pressure to be useful.
No. Pressure should be agreed with you and adjusted throughout your appointment. Some areas may feel tender, but you should tell your therapist if treatment feels too uncomfortable. More pressure does not automatically mean a better result.
Tell your therapist when your event is and whether you have had sports massage before. The timing and intensity should reflect your previous response and your competition plans. Avoid trying an unfamiliar, intense treatment immediately before an important event.
This depends on how you feel, the treatment you received and whether you have an injury. Ask your therapist about your planned session so they can give advice suited to your circumstances. If you feel tender or uncomfortable afterwards, adjust your activity accordingly.
There is no single schedule that suits everyone. Frequency depends on your goals, symptoms and response to treatment. You can book an individual appointment and discuss whether further sessions would be useful. Recurring symptoms may warrant assessment rather than repeated massage alone.
Â
A fresh injury with swelling, bruising or significant pain should be assessed before massage. Massage directly over a recent sprain or strain may be inappropriate, particularly during the first few days. Contact our team if you are unsure which appointment to book.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being treated. Shorts can be helpful for leg treatment. Your therapist will explain what access is needed and obtain your consent before treatment.
